Christina Coster-LongmanChristina Coster-Longman first came to Italy for the language and history but years later decided to be a naturalist. She still marvels at a country capped by glaciers and studded with volcanoes, one that offers rare encounters with wolf, lynx and bear and a multitude of bird life. Between teaching and writing, she helps translate and put together various scientific projects for Florence University and other regional entities. She has written non fiction science books for children on subjects ranging from ecology and zoology to geology and acted as consultant for other publications. Being involved in the local archaeology group has undoubtedly helped in her latest commissions to translate guide books on Roman and Mediterranean Libya now in print. Christina lives just outside Florence with her husband and pets;
her interests centre round her family in Italy and London but also
radiate to DIY and photography. E-mail: christina.cl(at)tiscali.it
