Conor Fitzgerald

Author of The Dogs of Rome (Bloomsbury 2010), Conor was born in Cambridge in 1964. However, he is Irish by parentage, upbringing and, when it comes down to it, choice. He has lived in the USA and the UK, and has been living in Italy since 1989. Married to an Italian he has two children, aged 15 and 11.

Conor used to produce a newsletter on Italian affairs for foreign embassies, but when the internet killed that off, he turned to translations, specialising in financial translations. He also teaches translation-interpretation in a school in Ostia.

Described by William Boyd as "a powerful and hugely compelling novel... written with tremendous style and assurance" The Dogs of Rome is the first of what will be a series of novels featuring Commissioner Alec Blume as the enduring hero.
