Peter Popham

Peter Popham has been a foreign correspondent with The Independent for 20 years, first with a roving world brief, then five years in India followed by seven years as Rome correspondent. He now lives near Milan with his wife Daniela and son Gabriel and writes what he chooses, more or less. He is the author of Tokyo: the City at the End of the World, several guide books and two novels seeking homes; he is currently writing a new biography of Aung San Suu Kyi, the Burmese democracy leader for Random House.
